The IE (I) students’ Chapter at IT department inaugurated on 5th May 2012 by Eminent Professor C A Murthy from ISI Kolkata. Mr. Sandipan Chanda , Director ,Force Ten Technologies, Er. Sandip Deb,Jt. Secretary IE(India) also delivered the address to the students’ on that day.

About the Chapter
The Institution of Engineers (India), IE (India) is the national organisation for Engineers in India. It was founded in 1920 in Madras with Sir Thomas R.J. Ward as the founding President. It is the largest multi-disciplinary engineering professional society in the English-speaking World. The Institute of Engineers (India) Student Chapter in association with the Information Technology Department of MCKV Institute of Engineering aims to bridge the gap between academics and industry by organizing seminars, workshops, technical talks, industrial interactions, competitions, and professional development activities. The chapter encourages students to improve technical knowledge, innovation skills, research exposure, and industry readiness.

Objective of the Chapter
To build interaction between academia and industry professionals, enhance technical and professional skills, and prepare students for emerging technologies and real-world challenges.

Activities Conducted
  • On 9th April 2011, a seminar on 'Future Trends in Computations' was conducted by Prof. Atal Chowdhury of J.U.
  • On 5th May 2012, the IEI Student Chapter opening ceremony was organized.
  • On 7th September 2012, a lecture on 'Higgs God’s Boson: The Story of Particle' was delivered by Prof. Sunanda Baberjee of SINP.
  • On 13th October 2012, a session on Free and Open Source Software was conducted.
  • On 24th February 2013 and 27th March 2015, industrial visits were arranged at SIMOCO Telecommunication, Salt Lake Sector V.
  • On 19th April 2016, Students’ Paper Competition PRESENTOMANIA was organized.
  • On 5th May 2017, Students’ Aptitude Test and GD Competition INFOTECHNIA 2K17 was conducted.
  • During 2020–2022, multiple online and offline events were conducted including Oracle Database Security, Blockchain Technology, Biotechnology Trends, Skill Enhancement, and PULSE.EXE.
  • During 2023–2024, activities included Pulse.exe 2K23, Entrepreneurship workshops, alumni talks, TRACE-IT, Engineer’s Day celebration, AI and ML discussions, and preparation for higher studies.
  • During 2025, activities included Business Innovation and Enterprise Development, AI as Emerging Technology, research collaboration discussions, and a seminar on Medical Science with Virtual Reality.

Conclusion
The chapter has continuously organized activities that provide students with opportunities to interact with experts, improve technical competence, understand emerging technologies, and enhance career readiness. The events demonstrate the department’s commitment toward holistic student development and industry engagement. Some glimpses of the chapter activities below.
