Internet Society Student Chapter
The Internet Society (ISOC) is a nonprofit organization founded in 1992 to provide leadership in Internet related standards, education, and policy. With offices in Washington, USA, and Geneva, Switzerland, it is dedicated to ensuring the open development, evolution and use of the Internet for the benefit of people throughout the world.
Objective-To build the interaction between Academics and Industry people and develop the Technical knowledge through Live Projects that will be required by the students pertinent to the industry.
The ISOC students’ Chapter at IT department inaugurated on 29th September 2011. On that day a Lecture on IPv6 : Basic Awareness delivered by Mr. Anupam Agrawal and Mr. Anand Raje.
APNIC Survey Meeting held at The Oberoi Grand on Saturday, 24 March 2012. The Chapter Representatives Mr. Indrajt De and Mr. Arijit Sarkar participated in the discussion with Mr. Sunny Chendi and Prof. Peng of APNIC.
On 6th June 2012 World IPv6 Launch celebrated by the Chapter in the august presence of Mr. Anupam Agrawal -Chair, Mr. Niel Hirjee – Vice Chair of ISOC Kolkata Chapter.
On 30th-31st July 2012 training on Ipv6, IRM, and Internet Security was conducted by the APNIC at Hotel IndiSmart Sector V Salt Lake, Kolkata where faculties of IT Dept were trained by the Latest Technology.
On 21st September 2012 at ISOC Students’ Chapter of IT Department formed Two SIG Group to develop the Projects on Cloud Computing and Mobile Application.
On 9th February 2013 a seminar on ‘Crimes of cyber world (Real life studies) And Best Practices for secured uses and implementation Of Mobile and Web Applications’ held whereMr. Shubhendu Chakra borty from Central Forensic Dept delivered the address.
On 21st July 2013 Chapter organized a workshop on “Web Security tools and techniques and Internet Governance – an Indian Perspective” (Geek Lab) for the students’ of IT Dept.
On 1st December, 2014 Asia Internet Symposium Kolkata 2014 organised by Internet Society and hosted by Kolkata Chapter on the Theme “ Internet & Human Rights – Empowering the User “at Hotel Novotel, Kolkata. Mr. Arijit Sarkar selected as one of the panel speaker on that Symposium.
On 8th April 2015 Chapter received a prestigious DeitY, Govt of India Project on “Capacity Development Program for increased India’s Participation in IETF(File No-L-13014/24/2015-IGD)”. Dr. Indrajit De, MCKVIE-ISOC Chapter InCharge selected as Program Chair of the Project.
