For admission into any engineering and technology degree course (post 10+2 level) of this institute candidates are required to come up strictly in the merit list of either of the two entrance tests : West Bengal State Joint Entrance Examination (WBJEE) and the All India Engineering Entrance Examination (AIEEE).

95 % seats are filled up by the WBJEE rank holders as allotted by the central selection committee through counselling.

The Rest 5% seats are filled up strictly on merit basis through AIEEE as again regulated by the central selection committee following similar counselling.

For direct entry into the Third Semester (2nd year) of any of the Degree courses ( Post 3-year DIploma level) candidates are required to come up strictly in the merit list of West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination for Lateral Entry (JELET). Such JELET rank holders upto a maximum limit of 10% of the approved intake as allotted by the Central Selection  Committee following counselling are admitted direct into the third Semester.
