The
Information Age has incontestably arrived, the Digital
Era is here to stay, Networking is the buzzword today
and Connectivity is the key to leverage information. A
social metamorphosis is taking place, heralding the
emergence of an Information Society in which anyone can
acquire and exchange information at any time, anywhere.
The
Microelectronics is at the forefront of the advancement
in all these revolutionary developments. It all began in
1947 with the invention of transistors, which has been
dubbed "the first electronics revolution". The second
breakthrough came in the early sixties with the
invention of integrated circuits. Since then, progress
in microelectronics has continued unabated, upto the
present-day VLSI, the Cornerstones for development of
Computers and telecommunication.
The
synergistic march of computers as information processing
tool and telecommunications as information conveying
vehicle has shrunk the barriers of distance and time,
transforming the world into a Global Village. As the
domains of computers and telecommunication systems are
converging, with the consequent blurring of their
boundaries, new services are being established. These
services are mainly computer based with the Digital
Computer as a general-purpose electronic device placed
at the focal points of the network for processing and
forwarding information. No wonder, Electronics and
Communication Engineering constitute the core field of
study for today's Digital Revolution.
The
Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering of
MCKVIE is enriched with well qualified faculty members
and excellent technical support staff. It has also a
vast chain of well equipped Labs which cater to the
needs of the Present day students. |
