Rapid expansion of computers into areas such as multimedia telecommunications, and electronic commerce has created new enterprises, new industries, new ways of conceiving knowledge and art. These new expressions of computation are best studied in a flexible, integrated environment in which computer science and computer engineering are parts of a whole.

Established in 1999 the department of Computer Science and Engineering, enriched with highly qualified faculty members and equipped with state of the art computer labs, precisely takes care of the above aspects of communication systems to cater to the global needs of the day.

A social metamorphosis is taking place, heralding the emergence of an Information Society in which anyone can acquire and exchange information at any time, anywhere. In modern times the range of communication tools and devices are numerous starting from telephone modes to satellites, computers and internet video streaming, to name but a few. Without the advancement in electronics, these would not have been possible. Herein lies the basic importance of the discipline.

Keeping precisely the above important aspects of Electronics and Communication Technology in view, we very rightly introduced in 2008 the M.Tech Course with specialization in Microwave: Devices and Communication. The course has been designed in such a fashion that the new generation engineers will be able to upgrade their academic acumen in a professional environment with a drive for advanced research works.

Information Technology is a new branch of study that has emerged over the last decade. While the term “Computer Science" is usually reserved for the more theoretical, academic aspects of computing, the term “Information Technology" includes more of the human activities and non - computerized business processes like knowledge management.

Information Technology has thus become a very important part of our lives today. While one might think of the typical IT worker as employed in a major software company as a software developer, the reality is that nine out of ten IT workers are found in banks, insurance companies, manufacturing plants or other non-IT related business. Thus human resource training and requirement in IT is still high and this stream attracts some of the most talented students.
